by boe is snowbound!

A blizzard has New Yorkers snowbound!  Whether we're bundled up in our apartments or cozied up far away (because no airport will fly us home!), the spirit of the season makes any location fun.

We've spent lots of time with family and friends, ice skating, and eating.

We've also spent some time dreaming about...jewelry displays!  As accessories-addicts, our loved ones can never go wrong giving gifts which store our jewels.  Traditional boxes are lovely, but we especially adore storage which allows us to display our pretty pieces.

Prowling the web (one can only spend so much time in the snow!), we discovered this clever "Pack Rack" by Brooklyn artist Steph Mantis.
Sorting through family heirlooms, we've found mounds of vintage dishes, reminding us of this brilliant idea from Martha Stewart:

What's your favorite way to display your jewels?

holiday traditions at by boe.

The by boe shop is all set for the holidays!  There is nothing lovelier than spending time in our cozy warm store while the snow falls in the city.  Stop by for some holiday cheer + pick up some gorgeous, affordable gifts for your friends!

by boe's design is influenced by our designer's Swedish heritage, and we can find no better way to honor our company's heritage than with tasty treats!  Our company traditionally has a little party with Ginger Cookies + Glogg (a yummy spiced wine).

Join us in celebrating the holidays, Scandinavian-style, with this delicious Glogg recipe (courtesy of our friend, Lotta Jansdotter, whose recipe was recently featured on Martha Stewart!):

Ingredients (serves 10)
1 (750 ml) bottle dry red wine, such as Pinot Noir or Zinfandel
1 (750 ml) bottle port
2 cups water
1 1/2 cups Cognac, brandy, rum, or vodka
Zest of 1 orange, cut into strips
10 cardamom pods
2 sticks cinnamon
10 whole cloves
5 slices peeled fresh ginger
Granulated sugar
10 teaspoons raisins
10 teaspoons blanched almonds

1. In a nonreactive saucepan, mix together wine, port, 2 cups water, Cognac, orange zest, cardamom, cinnamon sticks, cloves, and ginger. Bring to a boil over medium-high heat; immediately reduce heat to low and simmer for 5 minutes. Remove from heat and let cool. Cover and refrigerate for at least 12 hours and up to 24 hours.

2. Strain wine mixture and discard solids. Reheat wine mixture over low heat (do not boil) and stir in enough sugar to reach desired taste. Add 1 teaspoon raisins and 1 teaspoon almonds to each of 10 mugs; fill mugs with wine mixture and serve.

3. ENJOY! Happy holidays!

'tis the season for giving.

It's the season for giving, and by boe wants you to know that with every purchase made at our Bryant Park Holiday Shop, you'll be giving to the community, too!

Whether you're getting a special treat for yourself or a loved one, 2% of your by boe purchase will go to the Henry Street Settlement!

Henry Street Settlement is located in Manhattan's Lower East Side, where they have been working since 1893 to provide social services, arts programs, and health care services to 50,000 New Yorkers in need.
With pioneering moves like opening one of the nation’s first mental health clinics, transitional housing facilities for the homeless, and the city’s first Safe Haven shelter for homeless women (among many other amazing feats!), one cannot help but want to contribute to this organization.

Let your loved one know that their gift is supporting the Henry Street Settlement, and have a Happy Holiday!
